3 ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan.
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until it’s light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs, one at a time, followed by the mashed bananas and vanilla extract.
In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix this into the wet ingredients, alternating with the buttermilk.
Pour half of the batter into the prepared cake pan, followed by half of the caramel sauce. Swirl gently.
Pour the remaining batter on top and drizzle the rest of the caramel sauce, swirling it through the batter.
Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Allow to cool for 10 minutes.
Transfer to a wire rack, drizzle with extra caramel if desired.
