Ingredients
For the Beef:
- 🥩 1 lb (450g) flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 🧄 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 🫒 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 🫒 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 🫒 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
- 🥄 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 🫒 2 tbsp vegetable oil
For the Broccoli:
- 🥦 3 cups broccoli florets
- 🥣 1 cup beef broth
- 🫒 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 🥄 1 tbsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
- 🌶️ 1 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
- 🌿 1 tsp sesame seeds (for garnish)
Instructions
Marinate the Beef:
- 🥩 In a bowl, combine the sliced beef with soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, and cornstarch. Mix well and let marinate for at least 15 minutes.
Cook the Broccoli:
- 🥦 In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tbsp of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes until tender-crisp. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
Cook the Beef:
- 🥩 In the same skillet, heat the remaining 1 tbsp of vegetable oil. Add the marinated beef and minced garlic. Stir-fry until the beef is browned and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes.
Combine and Thicken:
- 🥣 Return the cooked broccoli to the skillet. Add the beef broth and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer.
- 🥄 Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes. If using, add red pepper flakes for a bit of heat.
Serve:
- 🌿 Garnish with sesame seeds and serve hot over steamed rice or noodles. Enjoy!
