Ingredients
Scale
1 pound beef (flank steak or sirloin), thinly sliced
2 cups broccoli florets
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon oyster sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons vegetable oil, divided
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ginger, minced or grated
½ cup beef broth or water
Optional: sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
Start by marinating your beef slices. In a bowl, combine the soy sauce, oyster sauce, and cornstarch. Add the beef, mixing until it’s well-coated. Let it sit for about 15 minutes.
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of vegetable oil. Toss in the minced garlic and ginger and let them cook for about 30 seconds. Then, add the marinated beef and cook for about 4-5 minutes until it’s browned.
Once the beef is cooked, pour in the beef broth (or water) and bring it to a simmer. Return the broccoli to the pan and let everything simmer together for another 2-3 minutes.
Serve your Chinese beef and broccoli over steaming rice or enjoy it as is. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for a finishing touch.
